The use of Electrical energy at the Marine Base is a large component of the operations. The Base operates a variety of functions in Industrial type operations with support for Military equipment. In review of various options for moving to Net Zero – it was agreed to move toward installation of a PV Facility on 155 acres of Base area. Cooperation between Georgia Power and the Base began the installation but 1 week before ‘going live’ a tornado struck the base and resulted in substantial damage which has now been repaired and operation has been ‘on’.
