About This Session
Disability hiring is a major initiative for employers of all sizes, regardless of federal contractor status. But are your company's virtual doors open to everyone? While many organizations work to establish exceptional outreach and hiring programs designed specifically for people with disabilities, inaccessible technology may unknowingly prevent potential candidates from taking part.
This year's DirectEmployers 2018 Annual Meeting & Conference (DEAM18) will include a three-hour bonus preconference session on implementing accessible workplace technology, hosted by the Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology (PEAT) and Microsoft.
In this two-part interactive session on Monday, April 23, PEAT and Microsoft will explain why accessible technology matters, and will share resources and tips for ensuring that your technology is accessible, from job application platforms to pdfs. Attendees can expect hands-on interaction through small group work with peers, and will leave armed with invaluable information to put into action once back at the office.
Part 2 will cover:
• How to make your technology and digital content accessible, including a demo of MS Office 365 accessibility features
• Purchasing accessible IT from vendors
• Organizational benchmarking
• Staff training resources
