About This Session
IBM recognizes the importance of public/private collaboration in shaping fast paths for service members, veterans and military family members to gain skills necessary for jobs of tomorrow. A widening gap exists between available, qualified, cybersecurity professionals and unfilled positions. This gap is expected to reach 1.8 million by 2022. Programs designed to build in-demand technology skills are needed to prepare veterans and military dependents for “new collar” careers—skilled positions, such as data and cybersecurity analysts, positions that require specific skills but not a traditional education.
In response to this, last year IBM announced a commitment to hire 2,000 veterans through 2021. IBM’s Citizenship team, in partnership with Corporate America Supports You (CASY), has launched the Veteran Employment Accelerator program. Hundreds of participants are being trained, certified and hired by IBM and a network of corporate partners. Expansion plans are underway which includes partnering with companies to build on these pathways, fine tune curriculum to include skills in highest demand, and to align job seekers with access to digital content and certifications while strengthening their portfolios.
Join this session to learn how recruiters, job seekers, and companies alike, can join these efforts and drive career level opportunities for veterans.
