Seattle Parks and Recreation and District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation serve hundreds of thousands of free meals to youth during the summer months. The goal is to bridge the gap between free and reduced services available during the school year and the lack of opportunity during the summer months for free healthy meals. This session will offer two different implementation models; meals being served outdoor in city parks and meals served in local recreation centers.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the session, participants will be able to assess the impacts of partnerships to plan and create free programs to improve the health and wellness of urban youth.
Participants will be able to discuss and critique the advantages and disadvantages of unique programming to increases the number of meals served during summer.
Participants will be able discuss the connectivity of conservation of parks, recreational opportunities and bridging the gap of healthy meals for youth during the summer months.
