The North Carolina State University's HWB research team has been building evidence for 12 years to help communities understand how parks and recreation can promote health. This session will provide short summaries of research related to youth sport, community parks, shared use of facilities, community planning/design, and park prescriptions. The session will conclude with a facilitated discussion as to how park and recreation departments can use this research.

Be able to identify key concepts relating to physical activity and health promotion within communities
Be able to integrate evidence based research within their current programs or use some of the evidence based research to modify existing programs or develop new programs
Understand and identify some of the current trends within the state relating to park and recreation programs and health and physical activity promotion
