Bird watching is a growing, accessible, outdoor activity that doesn’t require much equipment, is fun and rewarding, and can be in rural and urban parks. Through citizen science, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology encourages people to gather data about birds they see. This data helps to better understand and conserve birds, and in turn, offer support for educators, families and birdwatchers to learn and engage with birds. Resources like apps, citizen science, and lessons connect broad audiences to parks.
