The Seattle Parks & Recreation Team will share lessons learned in breaking down barriers to employment, experimenting with recruitment and selection techniques, and delivering mission- and value-centric on-the-job training so that fellow parks and recreation professionals can learn, grow and thrive. To recruit, hire and develop a highly diverse group of dedicated professionals, we promote social equity and inclusion in our practices that translate to serving our diverse communities.

Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be able to gather, analyze, and aggregate community and workforce demographics; conduct gap analysis and strategies that better reflect and the communities and customers served.
Participants will learn key lessons learned on attracting, recruiting and hiring workforce that not only meet their organizational business needs but also that reflects the communities they serve.
Participants will explore ways to assess, develop, and train employees leveraging both on-the-job and on-line training development resources.
