Many park and recreation agencies deal with the hard task of keeping good volunteers in their organization. In a perfect world, we could create a position when help is needed; however, that’s not reality. Because so many agencies rely on volunteerism, keeping volunteers engaged is vital. In this session, participants will hear strategies on how to make the volunteer experience engaging and meaningful, along with learning ways to minimize volunteer turnover and showing appreciation for the work they do.

Learning Outcomes:
Identify the major factor in volunteer turnover and learn ways to keep them actively involved so that the organization continues to have a strong volunteer base.
Learn ways to keep volunteers engaged through community service. Participants will learn how to make volunteers feel that they are making a lasting impact on the community.
Share and learn how to retain volunteers through inexpensive ways of recognizing volunteers.
